 My First Alphabet : A to Z

How to use this book:

In this book, students will initially learn handwriting strokes before learning how to write each letter of the alphabet. They

will start by drawing straight lines and then curved lines. After that, the students will use their newly-developed skills to trace shapes.

This book was created as a fun and engaging resource for students to learn how to write the alphabet, so you should encourage the students to progress at their own speed, to an extent. This will alleviate any stress towards the topic. It is not necessary to complete a whole page in one sitting. The students may want to lie on their fronts or sit on a chair while doing the bookwork. Whichever is most comfortable for the student is best. However, it is important that a hard surface is used to rest the book on. Using a short and wide crayon before moving onto using a pencil is a good idea. When progressing onto using pencils, it is beneficial to use a short pencil to help strengthen their hand muscles.

To help the students get a proper grip of the pencil, instruct them to:

1. Use their thumb and index finger to pick up the pencil.

2. Place their index finger on top of the pencil.

3. Rest the pencil on their middle finger.

4. Rest the pad of their hand on the page.

Once the students have learned handwriting strokes, this book will teach them how to write each letter of the alphabet in print. We will begin with capital letters and then learn to write lowercase letters. Each letter will be traced multiple times. Then they will trace and fill in the first letter of each word in each activity at the end of each letter section.

To achieve better results, have children complete this section of the workbook in order. Allow them to take their time and complete every page. Due to a young learner’s stamina, it is fine for them to do part of a page and have a break before coming back later to finish that page. It is a good idea to continue using a short, fat crayon, if needed, or a short pencil. Encouraging a proper pencil grip is important too.

Numbers and arrows are used to help the students learn the proper way of tracing and writing the letters. The first letter on each tracing line includes those numbers and arrows. This will show the students exactly how they should write the letter and the correct order for their pencil strokes.
